No trip to Barmouth is complete without a visit to the Last which is steeped in RNLI history and has its very own well fed from water coming down the rock in the back. The Last is probably the most popular “touristy” pub in Barmouth so if you want to go during the season or local events recommend you book for dinner. In the summer you can take your drinks across the road and sit in the little garden next to the Harbour.

Myrddins is Barmouth's local craft beer hotspot! They brew their own beers and distil their own spirits as well as selling a wide variety of other local beers and ciders on tap and in bottles. They also do 2 pint flagons of whatever they have on tap to take away. Their opening hours are more restricted than other bars. They are normally closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and close by 7pm latest on the days they are open. However a visit is highly recommended even if just to bring some beer back to the house!

Our favourite coffee shop serves cakes baked on the premises and a lovely selection of sandwiches and hot food. You can get excellent coffee to take away or pop in for an afternoon tea.

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous you can hire bikes from Birmingham Garage and cycle across the bridge and up the Mawddach way to Penmaenpool (the George III Pub is here for a convenient lunch break!) or to Fairbourne.

About half an hours drive up the coast (20 minutes on the train) Harlech Castle towers over this small coastal town. Worth a visit for the views alone there is also a good exhibition on the history of Welsh castles dotted around the North Wales coast.
