Sightseeing
We are lucky to have a great pub - The Grapes - next door with a lot of history (built in 1720). The pub is now owned by Sir Ian McKellen. You will even find the magician stick used for the film ‘Lord of the Rings’ behind the bar. Don’t miss the Thames view from the balcony at the back of the pub! Fish and chips are great too.
The pub is located on Narrow street. Go through the park, it will be on your right.

Go to central London by public transport
The closest station is Limehouse on the DLR. It is a 5min walk from the house. Follow the train track towards the West (keep the track on your right).
When taking the DLR, be careful to check the destination of the train as the track splits in both directions. Usually take "Bank" to go to central London as it is a major and well connected station. Although, "Tower Gateway" takes you directly to the Tower of London in only 2 stops.

Go to central London by boat
You can take the Thames clippers (fast boats). Walk towards Canary Wharf along the Thames until you see the pier (12min walk). The pier will be in front of the steps just as you enter Canary Wharf/ next to the restaurant Royal China.

Visit Limehouse
Right next door, you can go around the Limehouse Basin and read the panels about the marina formally named the Regent's canal docks opened in 1820. With a bit of luck, you might see a few nice sailing ships.
The Ropemakers Field is also a very nice little park very busy on the weekend.
The Regent's canal will take you to Victoria Park and ultimately to the north of Central London, Regent's Park, King's Cross and Camden (although that is a very long walk! – 2h30).

Visit Canary Wharf (financial district)
It is famous for its glass skyscrapers.
It can be accessed directly by DLR from the Limehouse station (direction Lewisham) or by a nice walk along the Thames.

Tesco is the closest supermarket. It is located on commercial road, opposite the Limehouse station.

The closest shopping centre is located underneath Canary Wharf. Clothes shops, fast foods, restaurants, services and Waitrose (supermarket) are all available. Make sure you pick up a map of the underground galleries to find you way when you get there.
