Neighbourhoods

Whitstable is a quirky little town famous for oysters and more recently for its ever growing number of high end restaurants and cafes. Whitstable has a very arty feel and has numerous independent galleries, interior shops and boutiques. You can spend all day walking along the coast to either Faversham or Herne Bay (and beyond), and then cosy up in one on the many bars and watch the famous sunsets. The beach is very family friendly as it is completely off of the road. If you head to Tankerton or Seasalter these areas are often less busy in the high season.

Margate is definitely worth a visit for the day. It has a very cool, retro feel to it with lots of second hand shops, galleries (The Tuner Gallery being the biggest) and quirky bars. It has a long sandy beach and the Old Town is great for finding some unique gifts and grabbing a spot of lunch.

Canterbury is a beautiful, medieval city famous for its cobbled streets, shopping. centre and obviously its stunning cathedral. Only a 15 minute drive from Whitstable, you can lose a day here wandering the back streets, treating yourself to some retail therapy in Whitefriars shopping centre or sampling a local brew in one of the many pubs. The Marlowe Theatre shows all of the latest productions and the Gulbenkian often has unusual and quirky shows on.
