Several yummy restaurants are within a ten-minute walk from the apartment:
Manjares Bistro - delicious coffee, teas, fresh juices and smoothies, plus pastries, salads, sandwiches and Cuban specialties - on the corner of Whalley Ave and West Rock Ave, across from Edgewood Park
Rawa (a Mediterranen cafe) – lentil soup, falafel, homemade pita bread, unique pizzas, salads and biryanis – next door to Manjares Bistro
Deja Brew – tea, coffee and pastries in a delightful Victorian atmosphere - on the corner of Edgewood Ave and West Rock Ave
ON WHALLEY AVE in “THE VILLAGE OF WESTVILLE”
Bella Café – a New Haven staple for breakfast
Lena’s Café – if you’re not at Bella, you’re probably having pancakes at Lena’s across the street.
Westville Pizza – classic pizza, subs, and fries. They even offer Gluten-Free pizza.
House of Chao – a Chinese restaurant that’s always busy.

Yale University is a short ride away from my place and provides tours and a plethora of other activities. New Haven also boasts a rich arts community, with regular shows at the Yale Repertory Theater, Long Wharf Theater, Collective Consciousness Theater, and New Haven Symphony. If you prefer visual arts, try the Yale Art Gallery, Yale Center for British Art, Creative Arts Workshop on Audobon, ArtSpace on Orange Street, Giampetro Gallery on Chapel Street, or the Ely Center for Contemporary Art on Trumbull.
On Whalley Avenue in Westville, the artists at West River Arts open their studios to the public on the second Saturday of each month.
Balanced Yoga Studio is a hot yoga studio on Whalley Avenue between Emerson and Forest, a six-minute walk from my place.
The entrance to West Rock Park is off Blake Street. It’s a ten minute walk from here and a great place for a quick hike.
There are several entrances to Edgewood Park; the one on West Rock Avenue is the most accessible. This park features a wide paved walking path and several small wooded trails that almost make you feel like you’re not in a city.
