Skiing is just minutes away at beautiful Mount Snow. Mount Snow is Vermont's southernmost ski resort, making it the closest skiing to the Northeast's major metropolitan areas. Recent extensive snowmaking upgrades allow the mountain to continue providing a quality snow surface throughout the ski season. Dover is also home to Timber Creek Cross Country ski area and access to the Catamount Ski Trail is a short drive away. • Hiking. We have some of the best hiking in the country! Numerous opportunities await those who look to hike Dover's beautiful trails ranging from easy to challenging levels! Three national trails wind through Green Mountain National Forest: the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, Robert Frost National Recreation Trail, and Long National Recreation Trail. Hundreds of miles of multiple-use trails can be used for hiking, cross country skiing, bicycling, horseback riding and snowmobiling. The Appalachian Trail and Vermont 's Long Trail are easily accessible from Dover and much of Southern Vermont 's Deerfield Valley. •Fishing: Harriman Reservoir: (Five mile drive) Catches reported; smallmouths, perch, rock bass, salmon, stocked lake trout, rainbows, and broke. •Golfing. (Five mile drive) Haystack Golf Club, Sitzmark Lodge, Mount Snow Golf Club, Someday Golf Resort and Hermitage Golf Club. •Located close by: ( One to 5 mile drive) Horseback trail riding, swimming, kayaking, boating and farms to visit. •Zoar Outdoor located in downtown of Wilmington offers zip lining, white water rafting adventures, snow shoeing, canoeing and kayaking trips, and much more. •Charming restaurants, unique boutiques are all nearby.
