Salts Mill is totally unique. It's a converted mill housing an art gallery showcasing the work of David Hockney. There's also one of the best bookshops I've ever seen - from art to photography, calligraphy to gardening. If it's creative, you'll find a book on it here. Practically impossible to come away empty handed. They have wonderful exhibitions too - check out the site for what's on during your visit www.saltsmill.org.uk

Host of the famous 1940s weekend, and of course enough history about the Bronte sisters to keep any historian happy. Cute little tea rooms and a great restaurant Wharenui at the bottom of the high street. There's also lovely walks from Haworth out onto the Moor to walk off your tea cake or lunch.

If you have only one day in Yorkshire, make sure you get to Malham. Go early to secure a free parking space just before you enter the village.
