KSC and its 50+ launchpads have blasted into the 21st century with the new rockets being launched by spaceX and United space alliance. If you're lucky enough to be in town during a launch it is worth the time to view, especially night time launches. Lots of public parking in the areas around the KSC if you can't get tickets. Launches do often cancel due to weather, so be sure to check a local weather report if going for a launch. Also tons of history, rockets, and a shuttle to learn about the heritage and future of the US space program.
