1 mile hike beginning at Forest Cottage
To find the 1 mile trailhead for Owl Creek start by walking East on Spring Garden road toward the mailboxes. When you see the left side entrance to Eagle Crest subdivision, turn left, pass the little house that’s between the lanes going into Eagle Crest and turn left again. Follow the road around a corner and down a very steep paved road. At the bottom of the hill is a
cul-de-sac and between two properties is a dirt trail. Follow it for a breathtaking view of the American River canyon and little Owl Creek at the end. To come back take the vista path back or take the gravel road which goes straight back up to Spring Garden Rd. Happy Trails!

Get your hot cocoa and chili ready and drive from Forest Cottage 20 minutes up the hill. Turn left at Anderson Road. The sled run is to the right just after the fourth house (5800 Anderson Rd).

We call Foresthill Bridge "Valentine Bridge" because of the heart shapes people have formed with rocks on the canyon wall. This bridge is 731 feet in the air making the highest bridge in CA.

There is a picnic table outside at the top of the divide with an exquisite view of the canyon. The deli at Wharton’s market sells great burgers, potato wedges, fried chicken, and ice cream among other things.

Foresthill is a small town five miles up the hill from Forest Cottage. It has two Gas Stations and two grocery stores, a library and a hardware store. It has 3 or four restaurants. We like the Chinese Food Place. For such a small town, it’s surprising that Foresthill boasts so many churches. 11 or more! We warmly welcome and invite you to attend services at our amazing church on Todd Valley Road. Services for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints begin at 9 AM on Sundays. You’re always welcome there. And you are always welcome to contact us or go to comeuntochrist. org. with any questions you might have about the Church of Jesus Christ. We love picnicking and swimming at the dock—kayaking and fishing too—only $5. This is the source of Forest Cottage's delicious drinking water. There is a wide paved path that winds around the water for wheelchairs, walking, skating, and biking.

Best Multi-level Cliff Jumping Around! Hidden on the North Fork of the American River in the Auburn State Recreation Area, Lake Clementine is one of the most beautifully serene kayaking spots I’ve paddled at throughout Northern California. The entire body of water which makes up Lake Clementine is exceptional, but for paddling, swimming, and lounging around, Upper takes the cake. Make it a day trip and discover why this is one of California’s hidden gems.
Lake Clementine water is clear to the bottom. Quiet, secluded, and only open seasonally, this is a true hidden gem. With the hot summer in full swing, The water around Upper Lake Clementine is absolutely stunning and the perfect temperature to swim or wade in.
Note: this is for the Upper Lake Clementine area and not Lower Lake Clementine, which is beautiful as well, but better for boating, camping, and hiking to the bottom of the dam.

Todd Pond is super close to Forest College. 1 mile up the hill. It has a delightful trail that winds along the water and through the woods all the way around the pond for 1/2 mile. We do not swim in this pond but we do fish and picnic at the tables. There are port-a potty’s there.
