This adorable cafe is in the most perfect setting, right on the waters edge, in an old boat shed, with fantastic views over the beautiful and dramatic Lulworth Cove. A short 30 minute hike over the Jurassic Coastal Path will bring you to Durdle Door another outstandingly beautiful iconic landscape.

A lovely new cafe that has opened up right on the harbour, with beautiful big window seats where you can watch the fisherman bring in their haul, and admire the sailing boats floating on the harbour. A great place to people watch and soak in the atmosphere, and they do fantastic coffee, and avocado toast!

Great spot in the middle of Bridport, a short drive from Weymouth, and a stop off the Jurassic Coaster bus route. Their breakfast menu (in my opinion) is best, but it cuts off at 12pm sharp! The perfect spot to stop and watch the world go by, especially on Market days

Lennox Street Stores Another good local corner shop, at the top of my road. They sell a basic selection of essentials, including toothbrush and toothpaste!

This place was recently saved by locals. When the owners announced they were closing down the town was in uproar, until one local stepped in and bought Picknics. The place is a local fav and is always buzzing. Highly recommended.

Feed The Soul in Godmanstone, a blink and you miss it village on the outskirts of Dorchester. This place have an incredible plant based menu. Most of their ingredients come straight from the farm that the restaurant is situated. They have a great breakfast and lunch menu and often run special evening set meals to a theme. This is one place that is definitely worth the drive out to!

Neighborhoods

Dorchester is the county town of Dorset. An ancient historic town dating back way before the Romans. If history and culture is your thing, this is the place to go! As well as being full to the brim with history, there is a really good shopping vibe, with a good blend of both high street names and independent boutiques. Just 7 miles up the road from Weymouth, it's easily accessible by car, train or bus, and for those that like a challenge, a hilly walk!

Made semi famous recently due to the very successful series Broadchurch being filmed here, therej is plenty to see and do here. I remember reading many years ago in The Times that they said that Bridport Market was like a Dorset version of London's Portobello Market! Lots of lovely cafes, restaurants and shops, including local favourites Dorshi and The Soulshine Cafe, Bridport is a definite place to stop off on your tour of the Jurassic Coast

Sightseeing

A gorgeous old wreck of a castle, that I think once belonged to Henry VIII! Recently restored by the National Lottery Heritage Fund it's a must see. If the weather is fair then there is a little cafe open in its ground which do the most fantastic cream teas!

Another incredible iconic natural landmark. If you have the time, this is a must visit! Come rain or shine this place is just insanely beautiful. If you are pressed for time, take the 30 minute hike over the Jurassic Coast Path to Lulworth Cove, however, if time is on your side, I would recommend taking the longer route, via the base of the cliff. You will witness gorgeous little isolated bays, rock pools, fossils and nature, pack a picnic and your swimming gear and enjoy!!

I mean can you get any more cool than that!!! "The only Roman Town House to be seen in its entirety in Britain. Dating from the 4th century AD, the house comprises two separate ranges forming an L shape around a small courtyard. The remains show a number of architectural details, including 2 hypercausts with external stoke holes, a window, stone columns, a well and an excellent mosaic which is under the covered building." It's insane to see, to know you are stepping on mosaics that are over 2000 years old and standing in a house that has seen actual Romans living in it! The history and vibes just roll off this place, and it has to be seen to be believed!!

Coffee and Drinks

This is a really unique little independent place. By day it's a trendy coffee bar right in the centre of St Alban's street, and by night, it's an incredible Gin and Rum bar. They serve any kind of Gin you could possibly imagine. They also have live music on some evenings. I highly recommend this place!

The Jurassic Coaster

This double decker bus hugs the Jurassic Coast from one end to the other. They have a £12 hop on hop off ticket system available, and the nearest pick up/drop off point is at the Kings Statue on Weymouth Seafront. The link is below and I would recommend this way to travel if you have not come by car. Please be aware of the timetable though as it changes season by season. https://www.firstgroup.com/wessex-dorset-south-somerset/plan-journey/jurassic-coaster
