I have chosen out typical sightseeing spots if you're looking for inspiration or some ideas to what you can do here in Tromsø. Sundays, when all of the shops are closed, is the perfect day to do this kind of sightseeing!
The cable car gives a nice view over Tromsø city. To come to the cable car you can either take a taxi or the local bus. If you choose the local bus, it´s the route number 26 and the stop is "Fjellheisen".
It is stairs to get up there as well, so during summertime it is a nice trip up there. If you're walking it takes around 40 minutes up.
On the top there is also a café and a restaurant. It´s a perfect place to spot the northern lights!

A stroll around the lake on the top of the island is perfect for couples, families etc. It´s takes around 30 minutes to walk around it, and is not challenging at all. During wintertime it´s a perfect place to spot the northern lights, or during the summer time ducks and other animals.

This place during spring and summer is a nice place to stroll and enjoy the beautiful flowers and plant life! To get there you can take the bus to the university route number 20, 21 or 34. The stop is "UiT/Planetariet".

If you have a car I would definitely recommend you to go to Sommarøy. It´s located approximately 1 hour from the city. It´s small islands there, and is a beautiful place during summer to go for a hike to enjoy the midnight sun. A hike up to the top of Hillesøy will give you a nice view over the islands. During wintertime this is a perfect place to spot the northern lights as well.

When you´re visiting Ersfjorden you should definitely go to the café "Bryggejentene". They offer delicious cakes and an great atmosphere. "Bryggejentene" is really a hidden gem of Tromsø.
