We're in the middle of the South Downs National Park and so you're surrounded by great days out in Nature, or with historic towns within a few miles. Here are just a few suggestions.

Local villages and beaches
Burpham is a small village with a good pub, 11th century church and cricket pitch. It is very rural and the houses are mainly flint and thatch. There are wonderful walks in any direction up onto the South Downs, and this is a nature-lovers paradise with great birdwatching. The village green has a great playground for children.

Amberley, known as the 'jewel of the Downs', is a beautiful village with quaint houses hard by Amberley Castle. It has a good pub, the Black Horse' (booking needed), as well as the George and Dragon at Houghton, and a great tea room and village shop.

The George at Burpham is about 200 yards , and serves decent pub food. There are plenty of food places in Arundel, and a McDonalds 2 miles away. We recommend the following pubs, but you'll need to book: the Black Horse at Amberley and the Horseguards at Tillington, or the Welldiggers at Petworth. All are above average but pricy. For a family, the George at Eartham has a good garden. The Black Rabbit at Offham is a tourist hot spot as it is on the river. We love the Bluebird cafe (park at ferring and walk to it) and Sea lane cafes at Ferring on the beach. Check though due to COVID.
