Approximately ten minutes drive from our house, set high above the Thames with far reaching views, Cliveden's impressive gardens and majestic woodlands capture the grandeur of a bygone era.
Follow in the footsteps of Dukes, Earls and royalty as you explore some of the most beautiful gardens in the National Trusts ownership. The formal gardens give way to secluded glades, tree lined avenues and picturesque riverside with miles of woodland walks to discover.
The house is now a luxury hotel but visitors can have guided tours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from March to the end of October,(timed ticket required. Book at visitors centre or online).
Cliveden never disappoints and has events on for all the family through out the year. Open from 10.00am to 17.30

Cookham is an historic village and civil parish dating back hundreds of years on the River Thames in the north-easternmost part of Berkshire on the border of Buckinghamshire. A beautiful little village with a fine selection of pubs, independent tea rooms and restaurants. A varied selection of historic houses helps Cookham keep its village identity. It is notable as the home of the British artist Stanley Spencer. A gallery of his work is in the high street and manned by volunteers. Former Prime Minister Teresa May is a resident as are many celebrities.
The Bell and the Dragon is one of a number of fantastic restaurants in the High street.
A five minute drive or twenty minute leisurely walk long the Thames River Path from Bourne End. Definitely worth a visit

Enjoying a riverside location it falls within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bourne End is only 3 miles from the lovely vibrant town of Marlow.(Michelin starred restaurants boasting amongst others, a selection of Tom Kerridge's eateries
Bourne End has its own marina and one of the oldest sailing clubs on the Thames. There are a range of shops and restaurants that ably service visitors and the whole community, making the village very popular to all.
Ideally situated on the M4 M40 corridor, Bourne End has railway links to London Paddington. Beaconsfield (5miles away) has train links to Marylebone.
Only 18miles from Heathrow and 57 miles from Gatwick it is ideally positioned for all enthusiastic travellers and visitors alike.
The surrounding countryside offers beautiful walks and extensive views of the valley to the rivers edge.
Definitely worth a visit.
