As a Venetian, I'll show you some beautiful but overlooked spots often set aside to give priority to the main and most famous attractions.
The oldest European Jewish Ghetto is 5 minutes by foot from the flat. It was built during the Republic of Venice in 1516; Jews were forced to remain in the Ghetto from sunset to sunrise. Restrictions lasted until the French conquest of Venice in 1797, when racial laws have been unwritten.

Less than 10 minutes form the apartment you can cross a particuar bridge. There are nearly 400 bridges in Venice but only one in the city center has no parapet. If in a few days you get bored with the typical bridges just hop in to Ponte Chiodo to try something different.

My favourite places to eat out
Just a few tips to enjoy a good meal out with a good value for money, keeping you away from toruist traps. Here's a list of my favourites places close to the apartment!

Fondamenta dei Ormesini is the nightlife center of Cannaregio district. Along the street facing the canal you can try different places to taste "chicchetti", the Venetian finger food, and have an aperitif; Al Timon Bragozzo stands out thanks to its original flavours and its deserved popularity.

Immediately out of the apartment an excellent pastry is located. It's a good choice if you want to have a great breakfast or also a little snack before the dinner if you come back to the flat in the afternoon. Their pastries will reward your taste and sight!

Here "spritz" cannot be ordered since is exclusively available wine, usually accompained with a typical meat ball. The dishes offered are the ones of the Venetian cousine, highly suggested if you want to immerse yourself in the real Venice.
