Highlights of Ordrup and the neighbouring area

Sweet places to check out while you're in Ordrup.
GUILT-FREE TREATS - "DOING GOOD BETTER" The yummiest home-made fair-trade, organic chocolates, to-die-for ice cream, nuts, coffee, freshly baked chufa rolls and more. Never have I ever been disappointed with Social Foodies - everything they make is absolutely delicious, and the staff is super friendly. AND: As a huge bonus info they've got this sustainable socioeconomic concept, which helps socially vulnerable people through relevant projects in both Africa and Denmark. Their profits are invested in the production of raw materials in Africa, where they educate the small farmers and create jobs in the local areas. I recommend their chufa rolls, musli bars, chocolate-covered cocoa beans and their signature sorbet (the best in the world): "Dyrehaven".

Best place to get your groceries in Ordrup. Good staff and a nice, big selection of organic foods, non-diary/plant-based milk and yoghurt etc. They've got the best Fejø Æbler (Danish apples) too - definitely a must-try, if you're visiting from overseas.

Go for a stroll in Dyrehaven - a beautiful park less than 2 kilometers away from our apartment. Turn right on Ordrupvej to the roundabout, turn left (3rd turn) and follow Hvidørevej, then turn right on Klampenborgvej and head down to your left along Skovporten straight after. This is the fastest way to the Theme Park: Bakken too. If you enter Dyrehaven from the Theme Park-end of the park, then just walk straight and continue until you reach the castle: Eremitageslottet. The view is amazing from the top and you'll see the ocean and the Swedish coastline in the horizon on a clear day! By the way: You'll walk straight pass a restaurant (with traditional Danish food) named Peter Lieps Hus (white house). They offer hot drinks for the road too. OH! And look out for the beautiful deer - the park is full of them.

The world's oldest amusement park. You don't pay for entries, only rides and services - there's heaps of restaurants, bars and cafés in there too. Try 'Rutchebanen' from 1932. It's fun - and it's only 30DKK for a ride on wednesdays (50DKK otherwise). Check out Korsbæk På Bakken too. It's a town from an old Danish television-show named "Matador", but even if you don't get the reference, it's like walking around in a live museum.

2 km away, you'll find the beautiful Bellevue Beach. This place is such a little oasis, the water is clean, and on a clear day you can even see the Swedish coastline in the horizon across the ocean/Øresund. Go for a dip in the sea - we both do it no matter the temperature/season. It's so rejuvenating!
