Sightseeing

Looe is an ancient Cornish fishing town, the first 'town charter' granted to East Looe by Henry II sometime between 1154 and 1189 A.D. Looe pre-dates Queen Elizabeth I, Henry VIII and by the time Christopher Columbus 'sailed the ocean blue', Looe was already over 300 years old. Great for historians and amazing for people who live in modern towns, in modern houses. Little winding streets and lane and houses, like Eliza, built when King Henry VII (that's right, the SEVENTH) was on the throne. Learn more at the Old Guildhall Museum or, for Looe's fishing history, pay a visit to the Old Sardine Factory Heritage Centre (includes a cafe, a restaurant and a kids' climbing wall.
