This is an amazing day trip but you need to make reservations because space is limited. It starts as a ferry ride from the Leland Fish Town dock and is about a 45 minute ride to the island. The island has wonderful hiking paths, an old village, a lighthouse and a shipwreck. At the far end of island is a virgin cedar forest that is worth the hike.

You want to canoe or raft the pine river. There are multiple livery options but you need to get a reservation because the state restricts the number of people that can use it at a time. Airbnb created it as Bosman's but shop around because there are several good choices. The river is a wonderful place to fish as well.

Food Scene
Local watering hole with good service, great bar food, free popcorn and liberal pours. Saturday night they grill steaks on a charcoal grill that are wonderful and reasonably priced. They have neat sports memorabilia and lots of TV's playing all the games. Tell Kelly, the owner, we sent you!

Great location on Lake Mitchell with outside patio dining. The food is god and reasonably priced. They have a wonderful Sunday morning brunch. I recommend the prime rib. Ask to sit on the patio.

It is a bar, bowling alley, entertainment venue, softball field and restaurant. It does the first 4 well and is hit or miss as a restaurant. Friday and Saturday night there is music.

During the summer they have wonderful music programs with many big name stars. The venue is small so you get up close with the show. Make sure you don't get stuck behind a pole when you by tickets. We recommend arriving early and walking around the campus; located on a lake so it has beautiful views and most likely you will see the sunset during the show in the open air theater.

The secret is to buy a whole item such as our favorite "Marinated Ribeyes" They will cut them to order and you won't be disappointed. Purchase them and bring back to the glamping site to grill. They make their own jerky that the best in the world. Until recently the hardware store was downstairs so you could shop for chainsaws, tools or guns while your order as being cut; it moved next door but still fun. Closed Sundays.
