Food Scene
A highly recommended restaurant in the old Turkish section of Limassol that serves what is considered by many locals (and us) to be the best Cypriot food in the area – the specialty is different bean dishes, but there is fresh fish and whatever vegetable is in the market also comes with amazing slow-cooked pork or lamb. Open lunches and (with Cypriot singing groups) on Friday and Saturday nights. Reserve for nights or a large group; they get busy.

Straight down the road from Pachna, cross the highway, and find one of the most lovely beaches anywhere, with two access points and two tavernas. Both beaches have chairs and umbrellas available for rent.
Going straight is the Kyrenia Beach and Fish Restaurant. A long stretch of rock and sand beach. Very uncrowded. Kite surfers use one end of the long bay. Taverna features fish, but has other British-style comfort foods that many enjoy. Best fried calamari around, we think.

Worth the drive, which is a lovely one, up into the mountains, in Pelendri. About 40 minutes, but places to stop and look around on the way (Vouni is a lovely village, for example). You will need to book, especially on Sunday; this is a popular place. Lovely outdoor terrace in summer months. Food is high quality mountain taverna – meat meze on Sunday - with fresh produce, much grown on the grounds and many special touches. Excellent kleftico. Note: there is a UNESCO World Heritage church in Pelendri and an excellent winery for tasting and buying (Tsiakkis) on the way into town. Check the Tsiakkis opening hours (closed on Sunday).

Gorgeous mountain views from trails near the peaks. The mountain areas are as close as 20-30 minutes from the villa. Maps and flyers for places to see and hikes in the area are available at the villa.

There are options to leave cars at Melanda Beach to return to Avdimou that way, or meet people in Pissouri Bay for lunch and a swim, or all sorts of variations on this walk and ways to make it shorter. Almost-private GORGEOUS swimming beaches along the way close to the Avdimou side.

Almost-private GORGEOUS swimming beaches along the way close to the Avdimou side.
