RELAX IN VAL DI CHIANA - VAL D'ORCIA

I love these spas because they are just a few kilometers from home, never too crowded. The main pool is large and in the summer it is great to dive and enjoy the sunset in the water.

The free baths are located in a naturalistic context, the Fosso Bianco is enchanting and the village, with its small cafes and restaurants, is worth a walk.

A place like no other, where you can breathe the magic! How can you describe a village that has a square made of a huge thermal bath? No, please, tell me. I suggest visiting Bagno Vignoni at sunset. To dip your feet in its hot water channels while chatting with a friend. Then to immerse yourself in the thermal water tanks (there are both natural and paid ones, both beautiful) and to close the evening with a reinforced appetizer at La Spuntineria (piazza del Moretto). The best thing will be to go away in the evening while the vapors dance on the water square like light ghosts. I told you, it's not a place, it's a dream.

DELICIUS TUSCAN FOOD

A small selection of the places where we feel like home for a quick meal, an aperitif or a romantic dinner.
The ideal place for an aperitif at sunset at the Monte Verdi Tuscany wine bar, overlooking an almost untouched valley.

In this village there is truly spoiled for choice to eat good Tuscan food ... you can't go wrong! My favorite place is Chiostro Cennini, it is located in Corso Garibaldi, near Porta Monalda. Until a few years ago it was a private cloister that I peeked enchanted by the lock of the large ancient door. Then one year, as if by magic, it opened to the public! A very good restaurant, an enchanting cloister, but what really surprised me are the evenings of live music, always pleasant, the tasty aperitifs, the open-air film screenings in summer. You cannot go to Sarteano without making a stop in this place.

I want to be unusual and give advice on a place you don't expect, the Pescheria Azzurra in Chiusi Scalo. In Val di Chiana we eat very well but I found it a bit difficult to eat good fish ... they are really specialized in meat and pasta dishes. Then one day I passed this fish market in Chiusi Scalo. There were tables inside and so I stopped to eat there with my mother. Excellent fish! Many delicious dishes, small or large portions of your choice and small prices. I love stopping here and enjoying a good fish lunch. Unexpected!

SMALL WONDERFUL DISCOVERIES

Monticchiello has been a pleasant discovery of the last year. A small village in the heart of the Val d'Orcia where everything, absolutely everything, is cared for with love and dedication. The walk to get there is unforgettable: you pass through golden hills from which some cottage peeps, some hay bales and nothing more. Then, when you just didn't hope for it anymore, you get to Monticchiello. Small, full of houses with flowers on the balconies, red bricks, craft shops and a delightful little square. We eat very well and buy excellent Tuscan fabrics. The children's park is well kept and has a beautiful view. In summer the poor theater is organized, where all the inhabitants of the village become actors. I can't wait to go back!

We discovered Contignano a few years ago for its famous Ravioli festival (I highly recommend it!). It is a very small town nestled in the Tuscan hills. The road to get there from Cetona or Sarteano is very pleasant and panoramic. Contignano has a beautiful history, beautiful landscapes and a delightful little church. Also, unusual, it has a really nice public swimming pool. Highly recommended for a trip!

One of the places I love most in Val di Chiana: La Foce gardens! I discovered by accident, making a mistake on the way to Bagni San Filippo. The guided tour of the gardens will fill your eyes with beauty, as well as reveal the story of the creator, Iris Origo, truly fascinating. Unmissable!
