Time it - my food usually arrives in 4 minutes. Simple breakfast fare from oatmeal to the lumberjack's dream breakfast. Pancakes the size of dinner plates, great service, locals and tourists dining "side by each"!

Buttery shortbread crusts, luscious toppings, high quality chocolate, there was literally a fight over the last bites of the double chocolate espresso bars... OK, I took that off the comments section of their facebook page, but it sounds amazing!

Chinese food in Maine is really mostly American-friendly stuff you would never find in China, mostly due to scarcity of ingredients needed to pull of the right flavors and textures. Jin Yuan is fine if that's what you are looking for, but this is the only restaurant that a self-respecting Chinese person at Colby would go to for authentic flavor. A relative fluent in Chinese requested special dishes and exclaimed they were perfect; across the table another person ate typical Chinese restaurant-like beef and brocolli and drank from a "Scorpion Bowl", so you can have it your way and have a great meal, too!

Entertainment & Activities
DEW Haven is a place like no other. Many animals are rescued from some situation where they cannot be returned to the wild, others are exotic retirees from other exhibits (i.e. zoos, circuses). While not a refined and perfectly groomed setting, the animals are fascinating - not the assortment at the typical zoo. Can't tell you more- that'd spoil the fun!

Parks & Nature
Not too long, not too easy, this is a great hike for a family. Close to camp, just past the old Begrade lakes Village, this hike will be a 1-2 hour exercise with great views and some occasional steep inclines, but it is worth it for the views and fresh air.

Fun, relatively easy hike less than a mile long near the Belgrade lakes Village. Some parts a little challenging on the knees, but the breeze off the lakes feels great when you've reached the top. Beautiful vistas across lakes in several directions from spots along the trail, especially beautiful during fall foliage time. Pets are permitted.

Fun, relatively easy hike less than a mile long near the Belgrade lakes Village. Some parts a little challenging on the knees, but the breeze off the lakes feels great when you've reached the top. Beautiful vistas across lakes in several directions from spots along the trail, especially beautiful during fall foliage time. Pets are permitted.
The Mount Phillip Trail is a loop trail and can be followed in either direction; counterclockwise is described here.
The trail, marked with blue blazes, leaves from the northeast corner of the parking lot heading east and in less than 0.1 miles splits. Bear right to follow the trail counterclockwise. The trail passes though a grove of tall mature pines then heads northwest up Mount Phillip’s eastern slope, gently climbing through a mixed forest of hardwoods and evergreens. It continues up to a rocky ledge on Mount Phillip’s eastern side at 0.6 miles and crosses the ledge westward to a rocky, partial summit clearing (755'). After enjoying views of Great Pond to the south and the Kennebec Highlands to the west, continue the loop trail by descending to the west, then turning in a southerly direction and dropping down into a stand of mature hemlock. Follow the trail back to the junction and the parking lot.

Restaurant by day, live music venue in the evenings. Seems to be a slightly different atmosphere every time we go in. Open mic nights are hit or miss, food's always on spot.
