You order at the counter, find a table you like (in the garden, in the library) and they'll find you when your order is up. You can stay as long as you like.

My favorite museum and the first place I take out-of-town guests. The building is a replica of an Etruscan Villa from 79 AD and it houses Greek and Roman antiquities. It's all perched on a cliff in Malibu and you can see the Pacific Ocean. Taking the architecture tour or the garden tour and having a bite in the outdoor cafe is a great way to spend an afternoon. Admission is free but there's a charge for parking if you take your car.

Admission is free but there's a charge for parking if you take your car.
This is the old Huntington family estate, turned into a wonderful museum with famous works of art and terrific temporary exhibits. There are a variety of themed botanical gardens to stroll through and a tearoom.

At Christmas time they Las Posadas - 9 nights of processionals, in which "Mary" and "Joseph" go door-to-door asking for room, accompanied by angeles and shepherds. During Easter, people take their pets to be blessed by the local archbishop.
