Food Scene

Great baguettes and croissants and cakes... and well pretty much EVERYTHING. Typical french bakery, so no seating, but great to raid of a morning and take back for breakfast in the apartment (or at the cafes on Place Saint Marc on a Sunday as they don't serve food that day and will happily server you a hot drink to go with your bakery goods.)

A smaller bakery, good classics - croissants, pains chocolats etc Always opt for a "Baguette tradition" - but that's just my recommendation for every bakery ;) My favourite in this bakery for breakfast a "flan au lait" slightly sugary eggy tarte, if you like custard you will like this, plus its the only bakery which makes this local wonder ;) No seating

Big Market every friday, saturday, and sunday. You will find everything from hot street food, to local cheeses, cold meats, fruit veg, antiques, flowers, second hand clothes. TIPS- Friday is the best day for the antiques and curiousites, go early! It's great. Sunday- is special, because all of the cafes surrounding the place don't serve food, so you can sit down at their tables and order hot or cold drinks whilst enjoying the market food you bought. (take your own little knife with you if you can just to make it easier) And if you get a sunny day, you will see the locals taking FULL advantage of the terraces. Great place to people watch ;)

Great range of coffees and teas and cold drinks. Nice people and cosy atmosphere. They make a very good milk based coffee if that's what you have been searching for ;) And they can also sell you coffee for home, just pick your bean, and get them to grind it for the appropriate coffee maker.

A cute and typical French dining experience. Plus they have the BEST outdoor terrace in town. Book ahead for weekends, or if you want to secure a place on the terrace.

Hands down our favourite Italian place. Tiny and authentic. Don't miss the in-house-made mozzarella and buffala! Drool! Lunch is an ever changing menu of freshly made pastas and other dishes. Dinner is a big chalk board's worth of delicious options, you'll want to pick one of everything and share it between your table members ;)

Best traditional French crepes in town. Do like the locals and enjoy a local Normandy apple cider with your savory crepe (there is a great selection), and finish with a desert crepe.

This restaurant was here back when Joan of Arc was burned by the English in the market place just outside It’s windows. So it’s old! ;) It’s also the restaurant where famous American chef Julia Child’s first fell in love with French cuisine. (You must try the sol marnier!) It’s a Michelin star restaurant so it’s pricey, however if you are after an unforgettable traditional French dining experience, book a table here!!

A very cute street to visit. Full of restaurants eateries and little bars/cafes. A tiny stream flows the length of the street. The museum of education is also in this street, and worth a visit.

A must visit. This clock tower was once a gate to the city. You can learn all about it in the little museum inside. It is also on the longest and oldest pedestrian street in France. The main cathedral can be seen through the arch which is photo opportunity not to be missed.

”the Old Market Square” Stand in the place where Joan of arc was burn alive by the English! The very spot of marked by a large crucifix now. Although this is a very touristy side of town there is much to see and many places to eat and drink, although beware of tourist traps.

A night out

Bars, pubs, cafes
Best cocktails in town. Romantic but lively because it’s so small. An atmospheric place, perfect for a cocktail before or after dinner, followed by an evening stroll around the beautiful antiques quarter of the historic centre. Right next to the saint Maclou church which is lit up at night and is very pretty. A short stroll from the apartment.

Casual and lively bar. Outside seating in summer, cozy and bustling in winter. Family run business. The playlist is often ripe with cheesy French favorites. Lots of fun on a busy night, and a charming place for a drink and a chat in the calmer hours.
