The City of Pedro, named after our first emperor, has many attractions: the Imperial Museum, formely the summer palace, offers a view into the royal family of the past. Also worth visiting are the Bohemia Brewery and the well preserved historical center. The cool weather is also an attraction in itself - when the heat in Rio is unbearable, do like the emperors did and head to the mountains!

Sightseeing

A small island in the middle of Guanabara bay, Paquetá seems to have been lost in time. Part of this this feeling comes from an absence of cars in the island. Reserve a day for strolling it's quiet streets and check the local restaurants. Access is through ferryboats from Praça XV station, every hour or so.
