Supermarket in the city. other than the usual staple there is a Full deli, various artisan breads and birthday cakes. you can buy flowers too here. A bit more expensive than other supermarkets but worth checking out for their fresh veges n fruits

Take the cable car from Lambton Quay, Cable Car Lane (just next to the Countdown Supermarket) up to Mount Victoria to go sightsee and enjoy the Wellington city views high up there. (provided its good weather!) or have a coffee or two. Theres also the Carter Observatory once you are up there if you are into astronomy. There is a children's playground, a cafe nearby, buskers to entertain you with music (sometimes) and even an indoor rock climbing nearby where you can also rent kayaks on good weather.
