“The Sacramento River Trail, which crosses the world famous Sundial Bridge in the heart of Redding, and the Sacramento River Rail Trail, which extends north all the way to Shasta Dam and sits alongside an historic abandoned railway, have both been designated as National Recreation Trails in the National Trail System and together make up the Sacramento River National Recreation Trail. The winding trail is popular with locals and visitors alike who want to take a casual stroll, a beautiful bike ride, or a long run. Parks, bathrooms, trailheads, and scenery along the trail make it a convenient and pleasant way to get some fresh air while enjoying Redding's famous river.”

National Park
“Whiskeytown Lake’s beautiful crystal-clear waters, surrounded by mountain peaks, are perhaps the most prominent feature of the park. However, water-based recreation is only a small part of what the park has to offer. The 39,000 acres surrounding the lake hold four waterfalls, pristine mountain creeks, 70 miles of trails, and opportunities to explore the history of the California Gold Rush.”

Gorgeous views all the way up, spectacular view of the Shasta dam, Lake Shasta and Mount Shasta when you are at the top and there is a picnic table on top to boot. I love it”

Point of Interest
“Located in Shasta State Historic Park, just west of downtown Redding lies the remnants of a historic, and once very populated, bustling gold-rush town. Within this park you will find old brick buildings from the California gold-rush of the 1800s. ”
