“How to get there: take a taxi to Jalan Pengayoman 18. Or exit Kompleks Gladiol and walk or bike 1.6km to the west along Jalan Pengayoman. Kios La Galigo will be on your left. One can always enjoy cheap, authentic local food from street hawkers or grimy hole-in-the-wall establishments with the occasional cockroach infestation, or visit a pricey fine-dining spot. Kios La Galigo strikes a nice balance between the two. Unairconditioned but clean, Kios La Galigo serves crowd pleasers such as red fried rice, shaved coconuts over ice, and chicken noodles. Perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner.”

“Your nearest place to have all in one building. Movies, restaurants, cafes and whatever you can expect from a big mall. You’ll have only 10 minutes by walking to access this place.”

“How to get there: Exit Kompleks Gladiol, and walk east for 500m along Jalan Pengayoman. Mie Ceng will be on your right. This place is crowded, unromantic, and noisy. What it delivers in yumminess makes up for its undesirable qualities. Its mainstay favorite is the Mie Ceng (Ceng Noodle). Mie Ceng is subgum Hongkong-style, deep-fried crispy noodle topped with rich, thick, seafood-chicken-vegetable broth. Many locals will tell you that Mie Ceng is an impostor, follow-up act to Mie Titi. This is true, but over the years Mie Ceng has become my preferred go-to comfort food. Plus, Mie Ceng actually cares about wiping their tables and mopping their floors. Mie Ceng is a dry establishment, which is unfortunate considering how well the salty noodle and sauce go with a frozen pint of lager or pilsener. Solution: take your noodles to go and pick up a bottle or two of Bir Bintang to enjoy in the comfort of your rental unit.”
