“A native here recently told me that people still find some sizable chunks of gold here. From Wikipedia: The property probably started as a placer mine during the Georgia Gold Rush. Once the placer deposits had been exhausted, an open pit gold mine was established in 1847 and commercial operations continued until the early 1980's. A small stamp mill was also established here. Much of the gold used for the gold leaf dome of the Georgia State Capitol was mined at this mine, which was among the most productive mines in the Georgia Gold Belt. The mine is located just north of the site of the Consolidated Mine, which is itself north of the Calhoun Mine. www.crissongoldmine.com”

“We almost always sit at the bar, order a slice and a beer or a glass of wine and just chill. The pizza is excellent and there is a good "by the slice" selection. Great selection of beer, too, or so I've been told by folks with better palates than I possess.”

“We actually spend a lot of time in this sweet little place. It is definitely a local favorite for breakfast, lunch and yummy desserts. Another plus: my daughter, Maura, my daughter-in-law, Bebe, AND my niece, Emma, all work there! And on another note, this little "Hallmark-style" gem is owned and operated by our very own Dahlonega mayor, Sam Norton. Make sure to try the Dirty Chai Coffee; its our favorite. ”
