We have owned The Leat for over 60yrs and have lovingly restored it from old farm buildings to a high standard. It includes a spectacular large en-suite bedroom with breathtaking views of distant hills and a musical stream. The cottage is situated at the edge of a hamlet in a beautiful, peaceful rural setting 1.5miles from St David’s and a mile from Whitesands, the famous surfing beach. There are numerous coastal activities to enjoy from water sports, trekking, ornithology, golf and boat trips

Ang tuluyan
The cottage is entered through an entrance porch with space for walking, golfing equipment and dogs. In the hall from the porch there is a separate WC and powerful shower. Also off the hall is the stunning large en-suite bedroom with a picture window offering fantastic views of Carn Llidi visible from the king size bed and seating area.

Also on the ground floor there is a large living room with open beamed ceilings and feature stone walls which has been the setting for many happy family holidays. There are plenty of sofas and armchairs as well as an eight seater dining table, Smart TV with DVD player, board games and a music system. The kitchen is very well equipped and has an adjacent larder and utility area with a large fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier.

Upstairs there is an additional bathroom and two further bedrooms one with bunk beds (with additional trundle), the other with king size double/twin singles. The sound of the stream, which can be heard in the bedrooms, provides a very relaxing, sleep inducing atmosphere.

Access ng bisita
You will have access to the surrounding garden which has two garden tables and chairs. The large driveway of the cottage is shared with another family house (The Mill) which has a separate garden. There is ample parking. Access the field behind the Mill is very useful for dogs and gives direct route to the Dowrog Nature reserve.

Iba pang bagay na dapat tandaan
The cottage which enjoys wonderful views across the Dowrog Common Nature Reserve and the gentle babbling of the trout stream is situated in the hamlet of Rhodiad y Brenin and is within the picturesque Pembrokeshire national park whose northern coastline according to the National Geographic Magazine, is the best in Britain.

We are looking forward to hosting you and your party to the Leat however in the light of Covid 19 we must share some information with you. Should any of the guests or anyone you have been in contact with have had Covid 19 symptoms two weeks prior to your arrival date then you will not be able to travel. The symptoms include a high temperature, a new persistent cough or loss of taste or smell. In addition no one required to self isolate will be able to come.

Our cottage has always be cleaned to a high standard however we have decided to ensure any high touch surfaces ie, handles and light switches are now thoroughly cleaned with antibacterial solutions too. We will be supplying you with antibacterial sprays and cloths throughout the cottage so ask you to help minimise the risks of any spread. Should you use any books or board games please hand sanitise and clean after use. We have installed a hand sanitiser next to the key box at the entrance to the Leat and would ask guests to use on arrival and when returning from local visits. For your extra protection you might consider bringing your own sanitisers to use whilst out.

Airbnb has written to hosts with a recommended cleaning protocol given the threat of infection from Covid and this has been adopted at The Leat.
It is in everyone’s interest that we all remain alert and follow best practice in avoiding the spread of infection. I do hope that you enjoy your stay at the cottage. Should you have any further questions please do ask.

St David’s, Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom

Super safe (but take care of the stream for tots) and unspoilt where children can play and parents can relax. A place without noise, stress and with deep dark skies great for star gazing. It is a great location for hikers and sea lovers alike with plenty of activities and places to visit.

Apart from being a walker’s paradise there are plenty of other activities including surfing, coasteering, Sea Kayaking, climbing, golf, whale and dolphin watching, mackerel fishing and other boat trips including one around Ramsey island when you can see seal pups in late Summer. The ‘Blue Lagoon’ at Abereiddy, famous for ‘Red Bull’ cliff diving competitions is a remarkable place to visit and only a 40 minute wild flower covered coastal walk to Porthgain (translation beautiful port) where you can either eat in the Sloop Inn or The Shed. There are also a large number of art galleries as the light and scenery attracts many artists. A visit to St David’s cathedral is highly recommended. Built from local pink and grey stone it sits in the valley below the town. It cannot been seen until passing close by but once beyond the Bell Tower the cathedral comes into full majestic view. The ruin of the Bishops’ Palace (National Trust) is alongside and well worth a visit.

St David’s has a supermarket, bank, many interesting shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and a popular playground. The National Park visitors’ centre, Oriel y Parc Gallery, is a well designed building and accommodates a state of the art gallery used to display national treasures. It provides a lot of useful information which can be perused in the cafe.

Whitesands beach is two and a half miles from the cottage and is a blue flag surfing beach with plenty of parking, toilets, a cafe and summer lifeguard patrols. It is well equipped for all manner of seaside experiences and activities. A favourite is to climb Carn Llidi and enjoy the most spectacular climb with breath taking views from the 600 feet high summit of the peninsula and archipelago. The walk to St David’s Head from here is wonderful too. The variable colours of the cliff rocks is quite striking and is the clue to the fascinating geological topography. For ornithologists there is much to look for including choughs, fulmars, gannets, puffins and kittiwakes.
